A bit about Chris

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chris @ 7:42 pm

Hello, I’m Chris. Welcome to my blog site. I am a writer/producer, but over the years (the last 26…), one particular hobby of mine has grown into more of an avocation – playing Santa Claus. With a last name like Shoemaker, perhaps it was somewhat unavoidable!

My wife plays Mrs. Claus (a wonderful ham I might add but the real deal!) and my kids have taken on the role of various elves when called upon (until they each reached the age of 16 or so – once it just wasn’t “cool” anymore).

They remind me of the Claus-related “3 Stages of Man” saying I’ll paraphrase here:

“At first you believe in Santa, then you don’t, then you become Santa.”

I may be reading more into those words, but they actually ring truer to me the older I become. In a sense, we all come into this world wide-eyed with a burning curiosity to learn. As life happens it throws a few punches, so we narrow it’s scope while we bolster our defenses. As we age, our souls seem to mellow, and at least for this person, I find like Alice, I return to a state of being that is “…curiouser and curiouser.”

If you are a true believer and practitioner of the Christmas spirit, you’ve come to the right place.
If you wish to learn more about our annual merry-making, check out our Claus Family Christmas website at www.clausfamilychristmas.com.

Because of this background I suspect, and because Mrs. Claus is so predominant a force of nature in our live performances, I was creatively compelled to pen my first children’s book, entitled no less, The Great Mrs. Claus. It was a fantastically fun and focused project to complete (nearly 3 years in the making) and a few more years to imagine the world that surrounds it. If you check out the book’s website, you’ll see what I mean. www.clausdiaries.com

Anyway, I humbly invite you to one of our live shows or book-signings. I’ll work to get the public performance dates up on this site soon.

Honestly, keep a kind perspective on the holiday season. It can lend powerful opportunities to remind someone you love just how special they are. Enjoy life.

Cheers for now!
